first_imgWelcome to another edition of Sixty Seconds in Touch…this week’s edition focuses on some fantastic achievements by groups and individuals in Touch around Australia…* Some may have already read the story on the TFA website about Wallsend Touch in NSW taking out the NSW Hunter Academy of Sport `sporting organisation of the year’ award. Please read the full story because it is a fantastic achievement and one that Wallsend and their volunteers should be incredibly proud of.* Roxy Winder from Queensland, was recently awarded a Rising Star award by Sport and Recreation Queensland. She was one of just 15 awardees and the only Touch player recognised! Roxy has regularly represented Australia at a junior level and was selected in the Aussie Womens Open side for the first time this year, competing at the 2005 All Nations Championships in New Zealand.* In some more big news…TFA has a new logo! The new logo will be put displayed on the website today and will be implemented over the coming months onto all areas of the website, letterheads, merchandise and clothing. Check it out later today!* Referees…the new logo is here and we’re going into production of new gear…the shirts are in already, while the shorts will be in over the next few days. Extras like hats, socks and waterbottles will take several weeks. Until that time we’ll continue to sell the remaining gear we have, please be patient as we may run out of certain sizes or styles, unfortunately it can’t be avoided! * School Sport Australia confirmed last week that the 2006 Australian School Sport Touch Championships will be held from October 22-27 in Perth, WA.* The TFA calendar of events is gaining momentum, it’s a great resource for sharing the dates and locations of tournaments and events around Australia. Check it out at and if you have any events that you would like included, just email the event details, dates and locations to Casey at [email protected] * NSW Touch are selling 2005 Vawdon Cup DVD’s. Vision was taken of the Grand Finals in the Men’s Open, Women’s Open & Mixed divisions. The cost is $10.00. All inquires in regards to the purchase of the DVD should be made with Kylie Hearne, NSWTA Administration Manager, (02) 9558 9333.* In other NSW Touch news, the draft draw/pools for their State Cup are available at * Due to the relocation of Jeremy Sorrensen from WA to the role of General Manager of Queensland…the job at WA is up for grabs! All the details on the position of WA General Manager can be found on our website. * Nominations are open for referees for the 2006 NTL, this year sees an early bird discount of 15% on the tournament levy for those that get their nomination in before the 14th December.
