In an eventful weekend for the graduates, the legendary Mighty Sparrow topped off the busy calendar with a concert at the Outdoor Education Center. Mighty Sparrow wowed the crowd of over 300 to a frenzy showing the energy of past years.Iana George, Rowena Peter and Marinette Joseph earned master of business administration degrees. George earned a baccalaureate degree two years earlier and the Peter and Joseph three years prior in the same discipline.Samantha Julien earned a master’s degree in education.Celine Letang and Amey Prosper both achieved cum laude honors and both earned bachelor of business administration degrees in accounting.Hillius Ettinoffe earned a bachelor of science in computer science.Sheldon Hilliare and Shanelle McIntyre earned their bachelors of science degrees in biology.Keynote speaker, Joan Underwood, Antiguan Ambassador to South America, reminded the graduates and the attending crowd of over 300 to be cognizant of the social contract with the region as they develop economically and professionally. Almost 150 Dominican students have earned degrees from Midwestern since 1995 and sixty-five students are currently enrolled, making it the second largest contingent from the Caribbean.  Twenty new students from Dominic will be accepted to Midwestern State University in August 2012, and will be part of the over1000 who have been recruited in the 18 year history of the program.  The Government of Dominica provides support to individual students and in the program.Dominica Vibes News Sharelast_img
