Sonowal for fast execution of NLCPR projects in Assam

first_imgGuwahati, May 22 (PTI) Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today reviewed the projects under Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) for the state at a meeting with the Secretary of DoNER Naveen Verma here.Sonowal held discussions on nine projects that have already been sanctioned and another three projects which are approved and are at the final stage of being sanctioned.Reiterating his commitment to expeditiously implement the projects for overall development of the state, Sonowal said “There must be renewed focus on implementing the projects and the rate of their completion must be impressive for fast development of the state.”The specifics of the execution of schemes under NLCPR fund administered by the Ministry of DoNER was also discussed.Stating that nine projects at a total cost of Rs 147.15 crore are under different stages of implementation, officials said they include construction of RCC bridge on Mancotta Khamtighat road in Dibrugarh district, indoor stadium at Dongkamokam under Hamren sub-division, road from NH 31 to Kashimpur Suplekuchi via Purbabharti, an alternative road to Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati from Pandu and others.Digheeripar Bordoulguri Borachuba road in Darrang district, road from Subhaijhar to Uttar Ballamguri at Bijni in Chirang district, construction of a multi-disciplinary sports complex at Khanikar in Dibrugarh district, construction of N L Daulagupu Sports Stadium and construction of a railway over-bridge at Jorhat town were also discussed.In the meeting the Chief Minister asked Inland Waterways Authority of India chairperson Nutan Guha Biswas to streamline the last minute preparations along with all line departments for carrying out dredging of the Brahmaputra so that the river can be used adequately and effectively as National Waterway-2 for trade and commerce with neighbouring countries.advertisementChief Secretary V K Pipersenia, Additional Chief Secretary K V Eapen and Principal Secretary Sanjay Lohiya were present in the meeting.
